10 Things You Can Do To Make 2011 An Awesome Year

New Year 2011

Have an awesome year in 2011

Whew! 2010 was a challenging year for most of us. With a brand new year ahead here is my list of ten things that you can do to ensure a new level of success in 2011:

1. Create a Mission Statement and frame it
By the simple act of writing down and framing your plan you will have created a ready reference to motivate yourself and to keep yourself focussed on your goals.

2. Under-promise and over-deliver
Over-promising and then under-delivering is a sure way to failure and disappointment when you can’t deliver on unrealistic commitments. Stack the odds in your favour every time and produce more than you offered.

3. Stretch yourself and learn one new skill every month
Learning a new skill will improve your confidence, boost your self esteem, and increase your overall income. Finding new information is an essential part of learning a new skill. In your chosen area of interest, use the Internet, your local library or bookstore to find excellent advice on acquiring the skills that you need to ramp up your effectiveness.

4. Declutter and simplify your life for the rest of the year
Make the decision to minimize your possessions, declutter your home and your workspace. Simplify your life. Get rid of it! Then get ready for the transformation that this will bring to your life.

5. Stop complaining
Distance yourself from people who live to complain. When we truly think about some of the things that we complain about, we can see that they are mostly petty. Constant complaining focuses our minds on the negatives so that we may not see opportunities when they arise.

6. Count your blessings
Actively seek to notice and talk about things to be thankful for. You will be amazed at the positive effect that this shift in thinking will have on your life. When we minimize the negatives and magnify the positives we are more receptive to opportunities when they emerge.

7. Treat yourself
There is a good reason to take steps to create a happier, more relaxed, and more productive you. You’ll get more work done. So once in a while, be selfish and treat yourself. Make a point of rewarding yourself for your achievements.

8. Choose your friends, and the company you keep, carefully
Birds of a feather flock together. A smart man surrounds himself with smart people. Not only are we judged by the company that we keep, more importantly,  the company that we keep influences and effects us on a personal level. This is certainly an important secret of spiritual happiness.

9. Draw up a daily to-do list
Keeping a to-do list will simplify a busy life,  and so increase efficiency and therefore productivity. The best time to do this is the night before. Taking care of tomorrows issues in this way helps us to stay focused and promotes peace of mind and restful nights!

10. Find goal focus
Focus and motivation go hand in hand. Finding goal focus is about identifying priorities. Simply knowing what you want and not letting anything drag you away from your goal is key.
